- Write automated tests and carry out manual tests
- Develop tests using automation infrastructure and available scripting languages
- Create test cases and maintain an understanding of the processes
- Help develop the community automation testing framework and enhance the coverage by adding more tests to the existing suite
- Find bugs and write accurate bug reports
- Build or enhance tools after gaining support from stakeholders in the QE and Development teams
- Analyze the source code of our offerings and work with your development counterparts to propose appropriate test strategies
- Participate in the design sessions of the solutions with development and product management teams to scope and prioritize new features
- Experience working as an automation quality engineer or software engineer
- Good knowledge of client-server technology and RESTful API calls
- Advanced coding abilities using Python, Golang, or shell scripting languages
- Experience with BareMetal out-of-band management like BMC, IPMI, or Redfish
- Knowledge of continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) tooling and mechanisms like Jenkins or Github action
- Expertise in designing, building, and maintaining test environments and automated test suites
- Extensive UNIX or Linux system administration experience
- Good knowledge and understanding of networking layers 3-5
- Intermediate written and verbal communication skills in English
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or computer engineering
- Knowledge of Kubernetes, and cloud-native applications deployments
- Understanding of cloud Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) and Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) solutions like the Red Hat OpenShift Platform
- Experience with open source software development methodologies
- Involvement in some upstream open source project
- Experience with modern agile software development principles, methodologies, and processes
- Experience with Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform or Terraform
- Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or similar certification
